85 mins: Daly sweeps a pass to Kelly, allowing her to lift a cross towards Hemp at the back but a defender gets there first, catching the England winger in the face with her arm in the process, causing a nose bleed.

83 mins: Hemp goes into the book for a poor challenge on the touchline.

81 mins: Kelly pushes the ball past the full-back and moves inside, passing it to Daly but a defender blocks her shot from around the penalty spot.

There are over 83,000 inside the ground tonight.

79 mins: A pass down the line is missed by a couple of Brazil defenders, making its way to Hemp. She charges for the box but takes too long to put the cross in and when she does it is a poor one.

77 mins: Hemp does superbly well to spin the full-back on the wing, she moves inside and splits the defence to find Daly, who chips the goalkeeper. The shot goes wide and the flag immediately goes up.

75 mins: James and Russo are off, Kelly and Daly on.

Earps is booked for timewasting. Not a good look in a friendly Finalissima.

73 mins: Greenwood tackles Geyse but hits her head hard on the ground and needs lengthy treatment.

71 mins: Kelly and Daly are readying themselves to come on for England.

69 mins: Greenwood is caught on the ball on the left flank by Geyse, she gets into the box and tries to find a teammate but Williamson reads the danger. England really are setting their own downfall at the back with pedestrian play.

Duda is on for Luana.

67 mins: England push forward again and the ball reaches Stanway 20 yards from goal – she takes a touch to get it out of her feet and flashes a shot towards the corner but the goalkeeper is equal to it.

65 mins: Carter lifts a cross to the back post which bamboozles the goalkeeper but Tamires steers it behind to safety for a corner.

63 mins: Ary is the latest Brazilian to take aim but her shot form 25 yards is deflected behind, leaving England with another corner to defend. Once again only one player is sent out to deal with the short corner but Brazil gift possession back through a pointless offside.

61 mins: England send out one defender to stop a short corner but that is a complete waste of time because Brazil can easily play around them. The cross comes in and it is another case of scrambling it away.

59 mins: Toone loses the ball when facing her own goal and Geyse picks it up, firing a shot from 20 yards, which Earps palms onto the top of the bar. England have been really poor in this half.

Photograph: Tom Jenkins/The Guardian57 mins: Brazil have a fantastic chance to equaliser thanks to good work on the right by Geyse. Her cross finds Adriana unmarked in the middle but she completely miscues the finish.

55 mins: England need to wake up here or risk undoing all their good work in the first half. Wiegman will be worried looking at the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Geyse gets in down the left and pulls the ball back but England scramble it away.

53 mins: Another chance for Brazil, as a quick throws finds Geyse in the box but her shot is straight at Earps. England are looking a little slow.

Williamson plays a pass blind from inside her own box straight to Kerolin, who gets it out of her feet and takes aim but her shot slips wide.

51 mins: This is a different Brazil after the break. They are looking to attack England and put their defence under pressure, which did not happen in the first half.

49 mins: Brazil’s half-time substitutions are designed to make them more attacking but it could play into England’s hands by allowing greater space at the back.

47 mins: A positive start from Brazil results in a shot from Alves, who sidefoots her effort straight at Earps from 10 yards.

Second halfHere we go again!

Changes for Brazil with Andressa Alves and Adriana coming on for Zaneratto and Lauren.

Half time: England 1-0 BrazilEngland thoroughly deserve the lead at the break and it was a fantastic team goal to give them that.

45 mins: James is becoming a real force since swapping to the left. She collects the ball inside the Brazil half and darts for the box but stops short to curl a shot wide from 20 yards. A decision her Chelsea boss Emma Hayes describes as “poor” on commentary.

43 mins: James shows some lovely feet to get beyond the right-back and lifts the cross to the back post from the byline. Hemp is the recipient but she heads it straight at the goalkeeper.

Bronze moves up the pitch and chips a pass over the top, which Russo takes first time but her low shot is snaffled by Leticia.

41 mins: Hemp and James have swapped sides. The City winger cuts in from the right and tries to send a cross into the box but she hits the first defender.

Here is England’s goal …

39 mins: ITV keep showing Richarlison in the stands. He is only wearing his Brazil shirt on top. You’d think he might be nippy.

The fans are doing a mobile show light show, an indication that this might just be a friendly after all.

Rafaelle is booked for a late challenge on Stanway. Maybe it isn’t a friendly after all.

37 mins: Toone slips through a pass for Russo but a defender gets there first. The ball reaches James, who cuts in to shoot, only to see it deflected wide.

35 mins: James gets round the full-back and lifts a cross into the box but it is flicked away. Hemp retrieves the ball and earns a corner on the left.

Brazil clear and break on England; Kerolin bundles her way through a few England defenders but is eventually stopped in the box before she can shoot.

@Will_Unwin England’s fluidity is impressive. So much movement into space off the ball.

— Lisa Diedrich (@lldiedrich) April 6, 2023 33 mins: Williamson pays a poor pass across the box to Bronze, allowing Brazil to nip and gain possession on the edge of the area. The pass is sent to Tamires who sends a dangerous cross into the box but the she is wrongly called offside. I thought it was supposed to be semi-automated.

31 mins: Chris emails to say: “England women just scored an absolutely sensational goal. Geometric perfection.”

I hope Chris offers us more geometric insight throughout.
